SAGUARO DETACHMENT 554

 of the MARINE CORPS LEAGUE

Serving Marines and their families in the Phoenix

east valley area since 1982

Helping the Young Marines Program.

The Saguaro Detachment is very involved in the community through many different programs.

Perhaps, the most important of these is the YOUNG MARINES PROGRAM, working with our youth who are the future of our country. We volunteer time and money to this critical program founded in 1958 by the Marine Corps League.

Working with youths ages 8 through 17, many of whom come from broken families with no father image, we Marine Corps veterans teach character building: the importance of  honesty, courage, respect, dependability and a sense of devotion to God, country, community and family. Activities are specifically designed to develop discipline, self-confidence and leadership.

Young Marines make a pledge to maintain a drug free lifestyle and are encouraged to influence family, friends and schoolmates to share this commitment.

For additional information on how you can help or for enrollment of youths in the Young Marines, please call Frank (Gunny) Alger at 480-570-4032. Email: [email protected]
